The name
Named for the most connected tree on Earth.
Pando is a grove of tens of thousands of quaking aspens in Utah's Fishlake National Forest that all share one underground root system — a single living organism, thought to be among the oldest and heaviest on the planet. Its name is Latin for “I spread.” From above it looks like an ordinary forest. Below ground, it's one life. That's the idea we build around: many stems, one root.
